Q&A: Warning Message – out of valid wavelength range (400 to 700)

Question
Why do I see “Warning Message – out of valid wavelength range (400 to 700)”, and how can I resolve the problem?

Synopsis
Warning Message – out of valid wavelength range (400 to 700)

Solution
TracePro 7.2.0 introduced a new feature in TracePro. If you select any Material Property in the Material Property Editor, there are now fields for a Min and Max Wavelength. These values are intended to be used to define the wavelength range where the property is valid and provides a warning when the ray trace is outside that wavelength range.

Unfortunately, there is a problem with some of the Material Properties provided with TracePro.

These problem properties erroneously specify the wavelength as 400-700, which incorrectly assumes the units as nm. The wavelength units are actually um, so the property should specify the range as .4 – .7.

The solution to this issue is to edit/update the TracePro Properties with this incorrect wavelength range. From the TracePro menu, select Help/Update Property Database.
